Shipping and delivery terms

The Ministry of Chocolate Australia Pty Ltd currently deliver Australia wide.

The Ministry of Chocolate utilises couriers on a ‘signature on delivery’ basis.  If no one is present to sign for goods on arrival, the package will be rerouted to the nearest post office to be collected at the recipient’s convenience. We thank you in advance for your understanding of this policy.

We cannot guarantee product quality if goods are held for a period of time in a Post Office or delivery depot. If you anticipate that no one will be present to sign for goods, consider arranging delivery to a business or other address.

Orders are shipped on business days Monday to Wednesday. We attempt to avoid our products being in transit over weekends where possible, hence this is the case. Products may be shipped on a Thursday, depending on your proximity to our store.

Relating to orders received after 12pm on Wednesdays, we reserve the right to ship the following Monday, depending on weather conditions, and distance to delivery address. This condition is more likely relevant during Summer months and we will contact you if we recommend delaying shipping.

Orders will usually be delivered within 2 business days, upon payment confirmation.  The Ministry of Chocolate is unable to accept responsibility for delays on the part of courier services and shipping companies.

No orders are shipped on Fridays to ensure ideal storage conditions of products at all times.

To ensure our products arrive in optimal condition, parcels will not be dispatched if the temperature is above 30 degrees C in Melbourne.  We will contact you by phone or email if we anticipate that your order will be delayed due to hot weather.

The Ministry of Chocolate is unable to deliver to PO Boxes as goods must be signed for upon delivery.

Please note: We only book parcels on a ‘sign upon delivery’ service to ensure that goods are not left at your doorstep if no one is home. This is a precaution taken to ensure quality of goods at delivery.

The Ministry of Chocolate is not responsible and will not offer refunds if goods are damaged or melted after the first delivery attempt has been made.

Shipping times may vary during the holiday season, Christmas and Easter.

All orders are dispatched in special packaging to ensure quality. Fragile items such as chocolate stilettos, some Easter eggs and other molded products are only available for pick up in store.

Local Pickup from Malvern Store

As an alternative to paying for delivery, we offer free in store pick up for website orders. This is available from our Malvern location only.  Upon placement of your order for pick up, we will be in contact with you when your order is ready for collection (24 hours maximum).  Our hours of operation for collections are 9-5pm Monday to Friday and 9-4pm Saturday.  We are closed on Sundays and public holidays.  Take this into consideration when ordering.  In some circumstances, products available on our website may have run out in store.  If this is the case, we will advise you and offer a replacement item, however if this is unsuitable a refund will be given.

Returns policy

The Ministry of Chocolate Pty Ltd cannot exchange or refund goods due to the perishable nature of chocolate, so please order carefully.

Where an order is damaged during delivery, we undertake to replace any product delivered to you that is faulty or is in a damaged condition.  If you wish to return a faulty or damaged product, you must notify us within 24 hours upon receiving the goods.

If we are unable at the time of return to replace or exchange returned goods, we undertake to reimburse your credit card for the amount initially debited for the purchase including packaging and postage charges.

Payment options

All web orders are submitted on prepaid terms.

We currently accept payments for online sales via PayPal and Stripe.  We do not store your credit card details in our database, they are instead stored with the payment gateway provider.

We are able to accept credit card payments by phone or email if you would prefer not to transact online.  Please call or email us with your order in order to transact this way.
